Facilities Maintenance & Groundskeeper Job Description

Reports to:

Housing and Community Life Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance & Groundskeepers is responsible for all facilities maintenance and grounds upkeep for the The Village and the Restorative Family Center. He/she will maintain the grounds while also addressing common maintenance issues across the aforementioned properties performing repairs and installations as well as managing maintenance volunteers and recommending and managing subcontractors for larger projects. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Pray regularly for TRH families
  2. Participate in weekly staff meetings
  3. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance across all properties
  4. Perform repairs, installations of fixtures, appliances, and replacement of damaged systems
  5. Diagnose problems with heat, cooling, electricity, and water systems
  6. Vet and hire competitive subcontractors for major projects
  7. Flip apartments to make ready for new families within 2 weeks of move-out
    1. Assess damage and share with HCLC within 2-3 days
    2. Paint entire apartment after resident’s move out
    3. Clean carpets and replace any damaged tiles
    4. Perform any needed repairs to apartment
  8. Haul and move furniture as needed
  9. Manage volunteer work groups and individual volunteers in maintenance and housing projects 
  10. Check equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure everything is in working order
  11. Respond to resident repair requests within 24 hours
  12. Perform light landscaping, lawn care and groundskeeping work for both properties as needed
  13. Be on-call to respond to emergency issues
  14. Maintain a preferred vendor list in partnership with the HCLC
  15. Assist HCLC with annual housing and facilities maintenance budget 

Experience Requirements: 

  • 3 + year of maintenance and groundskeeping experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems
  • Skilled with a variety of hand and power tools, mowers and weed eaters
  • Must pass background check

Equipment Provided

  1. Annual tool allowance of $1,000
  2. On-site maintenance vehicle (Polaris Ranger) is provided
  3. All lawn equipment, including mowers, blowers, string trimmers will be provided by The Restoration House
  4. Access to Kubota tractor with front-end loader available as needed 

Compensation/Benefits

  1. This is a salaried position and compensation is determined based on experience and education – Range of $42K to $46K annually
  2. Health insurance; covered 100% for employee after first 3 months of employment
  3. Paid time off: 
    1. Vacation: 
      1. 10 days of paid vacation after first 90 days of employment
      2. 15 days in the second year
      3. 20 days in the fifth year
      4. 25 days in the tenth year (max)
    2. Sick Days: 
      1. 5 days in year one
      2. 7 days after first year
      3. 8 days after year 3
      4. 9 days after year 4
      5. 10 days after year 5
      6. 12 days after year 10
      7. 14 days after year 15 (max)

Hours:

This job is a full-time salaried position.  Hours are generally 9am-5pm Monday through Friday, but may vary week-to-week. There will be the need to work some hours on occasional weekends and/or weeknights depending on availability of technicians and other service professionals and will also need to be on call for emergencies on nights and weekends.
